Abstract

1472016 Mounting fuel injectors CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 28 April 1975 [21 June 1974] 17495/75 Heading F1B A fuel injector is mounted so that it can be removed without removing the fuel supply line. Injector 26 has a nozzle portion 27 which is received in a smooth bore 15 in an engine cylinder head and includes a tapered collar 30, intermediate its ends, which fits in a tapered hole 45 in an adapter 44, to which fuel supply line 40 is connected. Fuel passes to a bore in the nozzle via passages 49 and 36 and groove 35. An internally threaded boss 47 on the adapter receives an externally threaded clamping member 38. The adapter is held to the cylinder head by a bolt 52 and distance piece 55. A spring clamp 58 is mounted on the head of bolt 52 and bears on a drain manifold 61 which receives leakage from the injector. An elastomeric boot 63 traps leakage to the outside of the injector.
