Abstract
1,195,483. Treating exhaust. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A. G. Feb. 21, 1968 [Feb. 22, 1967], No.8498/68. Heading F1B. Air injected through nozzles 13 into the exhaust ports 7<SP>1</SP> is supplied through a passage 8 formed in the exhaust manifold 6 whereby the air is heated. Bores 10 are drilled through the manifold branches 2 into the passage 8 and nozzles 13 are secured into the ends of the bores so that they project to points adjacent the exhaust valves when the manifold is secured to the cylinder head. The passage 8 has a projecting spigot (9) Fig. 1 (not shown) for connection of an air supply pipe.
