Abstract

1471686 Centrifugal fans I LAING 27 June 1974 [28 June 1973] 28549/74 Heading F1C [Also in Divisions A5 and H5] A centrifugal fan in a hair dryer is formed of a frusto-conical support 5 which mounts an annular array of generally radial but curved blades 13, there extending outwardly from the array discs 14 which define air channels of between 1 and 2À5 mm width and with a radial extension of between <SP>1</SP>/ 5 and <SP>1</SP>/ 10 of the fan diameter. Air is drawn in via apertures 8 in the top surface of a hood, passes through the blades and discs and exits through vents 12. A further dryer has two fans, one at each end of the motor, and separated by an array of fixed blades. In modifications, the air channels diverge outwardly or the discs have curved ends, or there may be two sets of blades on the inner and outer peripheries of an annular support..
