Abstract

1470941 Vehicle towing appliances INTER NATIONAL HARVESTER CO OF GREAT BRITAIN Ltd 14 Jan 1975 1538/75 Heading B7T [Also in Division A1] To lower a towing frame 104, attached to a tractor (agricultural or industrial), from its normal towing position, the frame 104 is initially raised slightly at its rear end by tractor lift arms 112 such that cam surfaces 202 on latches 128, 129 abut the lower surface of catches 130 so rotating the latches 128, 129, anticlockwise out of latching engagement, Fig. 2, which rotation serves to move connecting rods 164, 165 to the left (Fig. 2) so producing a rotation of a bell crank 160 which lowers a blocking member 132 fixed to a control rod 131 below a gate 133, the blocking member 132, and consequently the latches 129, 130, then being located in position by moving the rod 131 forward (dotted lines Fig. 2) to retain the member 132 below a narrow portion of the gate 133. The frame can then be lowered by the lift arms. The towing frame 104 may mount a separate drag-hook or clevis or, as shown (Fig. 5), a reversible towing unit 180 having a clevis and a drag-hook at opposite ends.
