1470752 Jet looms W SCHEFFEL 31 Dec 1973 [4 April 1973 2 June 1973 28 June 1973 11 July 1973 20 July 1973 29 Oct 1973] 37815/ 76 Divided out of 1461915 Heading D1E In the jet loom of the parent the auxiliary jets are actuated successively as the leading end of the weft passes and certain of the jets continue operating after the leading end has passed, to support the weft. In Fig. 1 cam controlled jets 302 to 318 act successively as the leading end 362 of the weft 341 passes and jets 305, 309 and 313 are maintained in operation after the weft has passed. The weft is guided by inverted U shaped confusors 319 and confusors or circular cross section (Figs. 12, 13, not shown) may be used as auxiliary jets. In Figure 14 confusors have an opening 524 that is made progressively variable, to coincide with the passage of the leading end of the weft, by cam operating slides 523 forming the base of the confusor opening 524. The weft may be supplied to the picking jet 359 by a continuously rotating roller 211, a loop former 209 arranged to draw a loop in the weft when not being picked and a supply drum comprising a rotatable roller 201a and a stationary roller 202a, the weft being passed around the rotatable roller 201a, during picking, by a cam operated guide 205 and onto the stationary roller 202a during beat-up. The stationary roller may have the larger diameter so that passage of the weft thereonto pulls back the weft from the shed.
