Abstract

1470505 Silencers BRITISH GAS CORP 10 May 1974 [10 May 1973] 22326/73 Heading F1B [Also in Division F4] A ventilator for mounting in a wall opening comprises a casing having open inner and outer ends, at least one support member 10 extending across the casing parallel to said ends to subdivide the interior of the casing into separate chambers, each chamber being filled with an air permeable first sound absorbent material 9, and at least one air passage 11 extending through the casing between said inner and outer ends, the or each passage being lined with a second sound absorbent material. A plurality of such casings may be arranged end to end to match the thickness of a wall in which the ventilator is to be installed. The inner end of the casing may be faced with a grille or apertured plate 8 which may be provided with a damper. The outer end of the casing may be provided with a deflector plate 5 and a grille 7. The sound absorbent material 9 is fibre glass. The casing may be made of metal or plastics material.
