Abstract

1470437 Resin stabilizer systems containing organotin sulphur-containing compounds DART INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1974 [23 April 1973] 17341/74 Heading C3P A composition for extending the heatstability of a halogen-containing resin comprises (a) an organotin sulphur-containing compound having the sulphur atom of a sulphurcontaining group or a sulphur atom attached to the tin atom and a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon group attached directly through a carbon atom to the tin atom, and (b) an alkali metal bisulphite, carbonate, hydroxide, oxide, thiocarbonate, bicarbonate, metabisulphate or mixtures thereof. The preferred organotin compounds are organotin mercaptides, organotin mercaptoacid esters, organotin mercaptoacids, organotin sulphides and organo thiostannoic acid, e.g. dibutyltin bis-(isooctylthioglycolate), monobutyltin tris - (isooctylthioglycolate), dibutyl tin dilaurylmercaptide, butyl thiostannoic acid, dioctyltin bis-(isooctylthioglycolate), dimethyltin bis - (isooctylthioglycolate), monomethyltin tris-(isooctylthioglycolate), and dibutyltin bis-(isooctyl-betamercaptopropionate). Component (b) may additionally contain one or more of an alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide or an organic over-based complex of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal base.
