1469766 Treating ceramic compositions ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO Ltd 8 Nov 1974 [9 Nov 1973] 52226/73 Heading C1J A white-firing ceramic composition is produced by forming a slurry of a refractory material and a flux therefor in water and subjecting the slurry to a non-homogeneous magnetic field having an average field intensity of 10,000 gauss to separate paramagnetic particles. Suitable refractory materials are kaolin, ball clay, quartz sand, alumina, zirconia and magnesite and suitable fluxes are felspar, soda, potash, fluorspar, borax, mica, lead bisilicate, calcium carbonate and nepheline syenite. The compositions can be used for making soft porcelain, vitreous sanitary ware, earthenware or as glazing compositions.
