Abstract

1469023 Washing machines PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 9 Sept 1974 [12 Sept 1973] 39302/74 Heading D1A In order to dislodge the ring of laundry formed at the completion of spin-drying in a horizontal axis washing machine the drum is provided with at least one peripheral chamber in which water collects during spinning, this water falling back under the action of gravity onto the ring of laundry as the drum stops. In Fig. 2 at the left hand side on annular chamber 33, which may be divided by radial partitions, is provided having slots 34 for passage of the water and at the right hand side with an annular chamber 35 communicating with chambers 36 of the lifters having discharge holes 37. Alternatively an annular chamber may be provided externally of the cylindrical drum wall which has corresponding apertures for the water or lifters (Fig. 5) having holes 59 and 60 and smaller holes 61 may be provided.
