Abstract

1468897 Centrifugal separator LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 7 June 1974 [20 June 1973] 25434/74 Heading B2P [Also in Division H2] Before being fed through spray nozzles 18 to cool an electrical machine, cooling oil is cleaned in a centrifugal separator 12 mounted inside a rotatable hollow shaft 6. The shaft 6 shown carries the rotor 7 of the machine and the whole assembly is intended for use in a vehicle, the cooling oil being the lubricating oil used in the vehicle. This oil is fed in at 13 and passes through a helical duct 5 to cool the machine stator. The oil is then fed into the centrifugal separator through ducts 15 inclined to the machine axis. The cleaned oil passes through a central duct 16 to the spray nozzles 18. The dirty oil leaves the machine by an outlet 19.
