Abstract
1468654 Portable containers SINANAN ENTERPRISES Ltd 29 March 1974 [14 Feb 1973] 7121/73 Heading B8D The lower integral neck part 10 of a rigid glass, plastics or metal container (e.g. a bottle) has an upper neck extension 11 of a relatively soft plastics secured thereto by a radially contracted endless metal ring 16. The extension has a bead 14 or groove (15a), Fig. 2 (not shown), which co-operates with a respective groove 15 or bead (14a) of a reduced upper part of the neck. The extension has an internal thread 19 to facilitate its attachment to dispensing devices, such as described in Specifications Nos. 1,339,341 and 1,443,697, and an external weakening groove 20 below a capreceiving thread 18 to facilitate cutting-off of the upper part of the soft neck extension on removal of the bottle from the dispensing devices of the above Specifications. Severance of the neck extension prevents subsequent re-use of the bottle. The ring 16 may be contracted into its securing position, a magnetic pulse forming operation. Alternatively, the ring may be of U-section and be crimped into position. The neck extension is preferably formed of a methylpentene polymer.
