1468454 Bottom end stop for sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 20 Sept 1974 [9 Oct 1973] 41174/74 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener 10 comprises a pair of oppositely disposed stringer tapes 11, 12 carrying along their respective inner longitudinal edges rows of interlocking fastener elements 13, a slider, not shown, reciprocally movable along said edges to take the rows of fastener elements into and out of interlocking engagement with one another, and a bottom end stop 15 secured to the lower portion of the stringer tapes for limiting the movement of the slider at the bottom end of the fastener the bottom end stop comprising a plurality of transversely elongated staplelike stop members 16 extended across the beaded edges of the stringer tapes and connected thereto and thereby secured in positions on the lower portion of the stringer tapes, the stop members being spaced apart one from another substantially in parallel and longitudinally of the fastener to provide a gap 17 between adjacent stop members 16, said gap being wide enough to admit therein a sewing needle. As shown in Figs. 1, 2 the lower portions of the tapes 11, 12 are devoid of fasteners 13 so that stitching 18 securing the fastener to a garment 19 can pass from one tape to another between one of the gaps 17. Alternatively, Fig. 5 not shown, the stop members (16) are applied over some of the coupled fastener elements (13) at the bottom of the fastener. The stop members 16, which are formed e.g. of plastics or wire filament may be e.g. of semi-circular or triangular section and should preferably have a rounded periphery to slidingly guide a mis-aligned needle. The bottom stop members 16 can advantageously be fitted to flexed areas of tapes such as boots, bags, &c. Figs. 3, 4 not shown.
