Abstract

1,270,179. Moulding fasteners. TEXTRON Inc. 10 Nov., 1969 [2 Dec., 1968], No. 54821/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E2] End stops 30, 40 for a sliding clasp fastener are formed from plastics filament 22. The filament 22, fastener coils 20, and at least some threads in the tapes 12, 14 are formed from plastics materials that are miscible when molten. In the process of forming the end stops, the fastener chain, is carried in a channel 24 of lower mould block 26. An upper ultrasonically heated mould block 28, presses filament 22 against the stringer, fusing the tape, element coils, and filament into homogeneous end stops. Alternate end stops are then cut to provide the upper stops 40.
