Abstract

480,961. Moulding sliding clasp fasteners. WINTERHALTER, M. Sept. 2, 1936, No. 24043. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1935. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXV and XXII] The elements 1 of a sliding-clasp fastener are moulded directly on one face only of the stringer tapes 2. The edge 3 of the stringer tape lies at the interlocking portion of the elements. The whole of each element and of the top stops is formed in one part 6 of a twopart mould, Figs. 4 and 5, the elements being formed in the shaped cavities 9 and the top stop in the cavity 10. A plunger 12 forces the moulding material from the chamber 11 into the cavities 9, 10. For a more secure fixing the elements have a rivet-like extension 14, 15, Fig. 2, through the tape, such extensions being obtained by needles 16 in the mould part 7 being pressed forward to perforate the tape and then returned to allow the moulding material to follow up. The interlocking parts merely consist of transverse grooves and projections across the whole of the element.
