Abstract

1467399 Spherical tanks MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 8 April 1974 [6 April 1973] 15485/74 Heading BIT A method of constructing a hemispherical or spherical tank is effected by prefabricating spherical triangular blocks 13 each having one edge adapted to be disposed along the equilateral line or other longitudinal line of the finished tank, and assembling said blocks together in situ to complete the tank. The blocks are made up from plates welded together and then provided with re-inforcements to allow for transportation and lifting; the said reinforcements being removed when the blocks are welded together. The reinforcements may be disposed on the front or rear face of the blocks and provided with lifting lugs for details of which together with mode of attachment to the blocks Figs. 5-13, (not shown), should be referred to.
