Abstract

1467265 Toothed gearing MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 21 Feb 1974 [28 Feb 1973] 8015/74 Heading F2Q [Also in Division B8] A final stage drive system for the wrist of an industrial robot or automatic machine such as a milling cutter or indexing machine wherein an output sleeve y, can be turned about longitudinal and transverse axes YY, XX, by rotating respectively first and second input shafts y 2 , y 3 , includes irreversible worm gearing y 4 <SP>111</SP>, x 1 <SP>111</SP> and x 3 <SP>11</SP>y 1 <SP>1</SP> in each respective drive path, whereby output vibration is not transmitted to the input shafts. The output sleeve y 1 is carried in a bearing 13 in a casing part x 1 , which can turn about the X axis in a bearing 5 in a main easing part 2, and is rigidly secured to the worm wheel x 1 <SP>111</SP> for rotation about the X axis when that worm wheel is driven by the input shaft y2 through spur gear pair y 2 <SP>1</SP>, y 4 <SP>1</SP>, parallel shaft y 4 , Fig. 4 (behind the worm wheel) and worm y 4 <SP>111</SP>. The worm wheel y 1 <SP>1</SP>, for rotating the output sleeve y 1 about the Y axis in the casing part x 1 , is driven by the input shaft y 3 , through bevel and spur gears y 3 <SP>1</SP>, x 4 <SP>111</SP>, x 2 <SP>111</SP>, freely mounted sleeve x 2 , spur gears x 2 <SP>1</SP>, x 3 <SP>1</SP> (Fig. 3) and worm x 3 <SP>11</SP>. Although X-axis rotation is independent of Y-axis rotation, the latter causes some X-axis rotation due to planetation of the spur gear x 1 <SP>3</SP> about x 2 <SP>1</SP>, and a correction, not described, may be introduced to compensate for this interdependence.
