Abstract

1467007 Photographic silver halide reversal processing; foggants CIBA-GEIGY AG 18 April 1974 [18 April 1973] 18704/73 Heading G2C Unexposed photographic silver halide is fogged by treatment with an aqueous solution containing (i) a water-soluble stannous compound sequestered by a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid containing carbon, hydrogen and oxygen only and having at least two hydroxyl groups and four carbon atoms, or salts of such acids, or lactones of such acids, or (ii) a water-soluble stannous compound sequestered by a mono- or di-saccharide. Acids and lactones specified are gluconic, mannonic, heptonic, ascorbic, galacturonic, gentisic, 2-oxytetronic and 4-aryl-2-oxytetronic acids, and saccharides specified are glucose, fructose or sucrose. The aqueous solution may be a fogging developer used in black- and-white or colour reversal processing or an aqueous solution used as a pre-development bath in such processing.
