Abstract

1350296 Photographic dye image stabilizing composition EASTMAN KODAK CO 22 June 1971 [22 June 1970] 29200/71 Heading G2X A solid composition comprising at least one water-soluble addition complex of an alkali metal bisulphite and a 1-6C aldehyde having 1-3 carbonyl groups, at least one of the carbonyl groups being part of an aldehyde group and as the only additional constituent a solid inorganic or organic acid and/or base, the composition being such that when dissolved in water to give a solution containing 0À5-100g per litre of the complex the solution has a pH of 3-7, is used as the solution to stabilize dye images formed in photographic silver halide materials using colour couplers. The aldehyde may be formaldehyde, succinaldehyde, propionaldehyde, glutaraldehyde or malonaldehyde. The acid may be HCl, H 2 SO 4 , citric acid, benzoic acid, acetic acid, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, tartaric acid, succinic acid or malic acid. The base may be an alkaline compound e. g. NaOH.
