Abstract

1466210 Sawdust-burning stoves J VUKICS and C R SHAKESPEARE 27 Oct 1975 44100/75 Heading F4W A stove for burning sawdust comprises an outer container 1 having an open top, a partition 5 having an airflow opening 6 therein, a flue 7 above the partition and an air inlet below the partition 5, a removable lid 2 for the container 1, an inner container 8 open at the top and having an inlet 10 at the bottom, the container 8 being wholly within or capable of being placed wholly within the container 1 so that it rests on partition 5 and is otherwise spaced from container 1 and so that opening 6 is in communication with inlet 10, and a safety valve incorporated in the lid 2 or the outer container to allow escape of fumes in the event of the flue 7 becoming blocked. The safety valve may comprise a metal plate resting on the lid 2 and covering an opening 4 therein. The containers 1, 8 are either both circular or both square in crosssection. The air inlet below the partition 5 is formed in a hinged door (15, Fig. 1) and has a slidable cover (16). A removable tapering rod is inserted into openings 6, 10 while sawdust is packed into container 8 around the rod. The rod is then removed and the sawdust ignited through openings 6, 10.
