Abstract

1465301 Insulated pipes GRANGES NYBY AB 16 Oct 1974 [19 Oct 1973] 44874/74 Heading F2P A heating conduit 1 includes one or more tubes 3 of, e.g. chromium steel, which carry the heating medium and are surrounded by heatinsulating material 6, the latter being protected from moisture by cover foils 5. The tube or tubes 3 are surrounded individually or jointly by at least one layer of the material 6 and are covered by at least one foil 5 which extends in a closed path around, and along the entire length of, the tube or tubes 3 and is provided with holes. The material 6 is preferably preformed from, e.g. mineral wool, glass wool or foamed plastics in the form of hollow cylindrical sections which enclose a tube 3 over an angular sector of 180, 120 or 90. Drain pipes 2 may be laid at the bottom of the conduit 1 and insulating blocks 4 may be provided to support the tubes 3. A losse filling 7 of insulating material covers the pipes, and excavated material 7<SP>1</SP> may be used up to ground level. The tubes 3 of Fig. 2 are shown surrounded by a second layer 6<SP>1</SP> of heatinsulating material and a second foil covering 5<SP>1</SP> Each cover foil 5, 5<SP>1</SP> may be provided with reinforcing ribs in the form of a mesh and holes which may be 0À05-0À2 mm. in diameter in the portion bearing on the top and sides of the material 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, but up to 6 mm. in diameter in the lower part of the foil to allow better drainage. The tubes 3 may be laid complete with the appropriate coverings, the tubes then being welded together. Coverings may then be applied in the region of the joints, foil sections being jointed together by welding, folding, or use of adhesive.
