Abstract

Composite pipe comprises a tubular pipe element inside or outside which are disposed heating means, and insulation with >=2 layers each contg. a foam material, pref. polyurethane, polypropylene, polyethylene or rubber foam. Pref. >=1 layer of the insulation contains a reinforcing plastic cable or tube, pref. made of polypropylene or nylon. Each layer of insulation is pref. 0.32-0.96 cm. thick, and the insulation is surrounded by a sheath of plastic and provided with braiding. The heating means may consist of a self-regulating heating strip of which the resistance increases with temp. The structure provides insulation without leakage paths.
