Abstract

1464154 Roller clearing apparatus Y MURAO 8 Feb 1974 05910/74 Headings D1D and DIN A pair of feed rollers 1, 2 has a clearer mechanism comprising a clearer web 12 mounted on at least one roller 10 and arranged to engage the top feed roller 1, the web engaging roller 10 having a drive mechanism to impart intermittent rotation thereto and the clearer mechanism being mounted so as to be movable from its operative position (Fig. 1) to an out of the way position to give clear access to the feed rollers, the clearer mechanism being supported on the top roller and in a recess in a part of the drive mechanism whereby drive is disconnected when the clearer is lifted to its inoperative position. The intermittent drive comprises a reciprocating shaft 14 acting on a drive member 17 which engages via a pin 21 with a drive member 22, the drive member 22 being connected via a oneway ratchet coupling with the roller 10. The clearer mechanism is movable by swinging about pin 24 and when moved to the out of the way position the pin 21 disengages from the drive member 22. As shown a comb 6 is provided to act on fibrous material upstream of where it passes the feed rollers 1, 2. The feed rollers are disposed in apparatus for feeding fibre web from a storage reel to a condensing mechanism.
