146,396. Otsuka, E. Dec. 30, 1917. [Convention date]. Surface - tension separating apparatus.- In an apparatus for concentrating ores by flotation, of the kind comprising agitators mounted on a horizontal shaft, thick pulp is fed into a preliminary agitating chamber or chambers 19 wherein it is mixed with two or more frothing or treating agents, and with air admitted through openings 24. It then passes to the main agitating chambers 5, wherein it is mixed with water and air, and afterwards through a perforated partition 11 into a chamber 10 from which the values overflow, the tailings being ultimately discharged through an outlet at the bottom. The surfaces of the agitators in the chambers 19, 5 are formed with spirally-arranged projections.
