Abstract

1463613 Moulding building elements ISOVOLTA OSTERREICHISCHE ISOLIERSTOFFWERKE AG 11 March 1974 [16 March 1973 12 Dec 1973 21 Feb 1974] 10849/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division C3] A building element, e.g. a building board comprises exfoliated vermiculite and an organic resin binder produced from at least two monomeric components one of which is urea and another of which is phenol. The content of the urea in the resin binder may be 10-25 mole per cent. The resin binder may comprise 2-30% by wt. as calculated as dry solid on the weight of inorganic material. The element may include at least 10% water glass by weight of the total amount of binder. The building element may include glass fibre and filament reinforcement. Multi-layer boards, e.g. using paper, glass fleece, or aluminium foil may be produced. To form the element, granules and binder may be prepressed at room temperature to form selfsupporting biscuits which may be pressed or moulded at 2-3 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP> at a temperature of 150-170‹ C. using a press equipped with a high frequency and/or thermal heating system.
