Abstract

1463401 Antifreeze compositions MORTONNORWICH LABORATORIES Ltd 13 May 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 6558/74 Heading C4X A solid antifreeze composition comprises, by weight, (1) from 70% to 85% of one or more alkali metal, alkaline earth metal (including magnesium) or ammonium nitrates or chlorides, (2) from 10% to 15% of one or more of sodium benzoate, sodium dichromate, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, zinc sulphate, sodium ferrocyanide or sodium hydrogen phosphate, (3) from 2% to 7% of glycine and (4) from 2% to 7% of an alkali metal nitrite. In a modification of the composition, up to 50% by weight of component (1) is replaced by urea. In the Examples, the compositions comprise sodium nitrate, sodium benzoate, glycine, sodium nitrite, benzotriazole, sodium fluorescein, magnesium chloride, sodium hexametaphosphate, urea, sodium tripolyphosphate, fluorescein and sodium ferrocyanide.
