Abstract
1463263 Debarking apparatus CANADIAN INGERSOLL-RAND CO Ltd 3 Sept 1975 [24 Oct 1974] 36285/75 Heading B5L Debarking apparatus comprises drum means 10 adapted to be rotatably driven in a predetermined rotary direction, log deflector means 42 mounted stationarily within said drum for controlling log movement therein during such rotation, said log deflector having a log deflecting face 52 disposed generally upwardlyfacing and angled between about thirty-five degrees to about forty-five degrees from the vertical for downwardly directing logs towards its lower end, and for supplying logs to said drum without substantial velocity of the logs in said predetermined rotary direction. The drum includes debarking tools 38 and the log deflector 42 may have a water supply header 72 (for lubricating the face 52) and a steam supply header 76. The deflector 42 may have an upper log deflecting face 62 extending arcuately from the face 52 or vertically therefrom (Figs. 4, 5, not shown).
