Abstract
1463078 Hooks FRASER-NASH Ltd 19 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 19176/73 Heading E2A A cargo-releasing hook 15, e.g. for a helicopter, is held in its load-carrying position, Fig. 2, by a pawl 19 which is held in its fastening position by a further pawl 27 which is pivoted at 29 and controlled by a link 52 from a bell-crank lever 50 which may be operated by a fluid-pressure piston-and-cylinder unit 42 and which may be connected by an external linkage (shown in Fig. 1, not shown) for gauged operation with another hook unit. The shaft 51 may also be rotated to release the hook by an external handle, and the piston rod has a telescoping sliding plunger within it, to allow this movement without drawing the piston down. This plunger is latched down by a pawl 58 when the hook is in its releasing position, Fig. 3, and a cam 60 on the hook prevents accidental unlatching. The pawl 27 and a mousing piece 23 are provided with sensors 23, 35 to indicate that they are in their fastening position. The pawl 19 is pivoted in a block 37 which is axially slideable against the restraint of a tie 39 to provide a load-sensing means.
