Abstract

840,419. Lever load-handling devices mounted on vehicles. HYDRAULISKA INDUSTRI A.B. May 28, 1958 [May 28, 1957], No. 16980/58. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). A load-handling jib 5 is pivoted at 22 to the piston-rod 21 of an hydraulic ram 3 mounted behind the cab 1 of a lorry, and is connected by a link 11 to a sleeve 9 which is rotatably mounted on the ram cylinder. The sleeve is rotated by a rack-and-pinion mechanism (not shown) operated by a pair of oppositely-acting hydraulic thrustors 6, 7. The link 11 is provided with a hook 12 which, when the ram is initially extended, is moved from the position shown in Fig. 3 into engagement with an abutment 13 carried by a guide 10 secured to the sleeve, whereafter further extension of the ram raises the jib. The extension jib 24 is pivoted relative to jib 5 by a further ram 27 which, together with ram 3 and thrustors 6, 7, is controlled through a valve mechanism 30.
