Abstract

1462145 Reciprocating pumps PAUL HAMMELMANN MASCHINENFABRIK 15 Nov 1974 49515/74 Heading F1A A high-pressure pump comprises a reciprocable plunger 5 on which a spring-loaded sleeve 6 is slidably guided, the sleeve 6 moving out of engagement with a valve seat 16 during the suction stroke to allow liquid from a chamber 2 to enter the sleeve via opening 20, the movement of the sleeve being limited by a stop 11. On the discharge stroke of plunger 5, sleeve 6 engages seat 16, and liquid trapped in the sleeve is discharged via check-valve 16. Three pump assemblies may be connected in parallel in a common housing with their inlet chambers 2 inter-connected by passages 23 and their outlet chambers also inter-connected. The discharge valve and common valve seat may be mounted in a detachable head portion of the housing connected to the main housing by a holder (28), Fig. 3 (not shown), slidably engaged e.g. by a dovetail joint, and clamped by screw (32), eccentrics (37) Fig. 5 (not shown) or spring- loaded bolts (75), Fig. 10 (not shown). In Fig. 3, the discharge valve has a stern (50) guided in a piston (49) slidable in the outlet chamber and reacting against the head holder (28). In Fig. 9 (not shown), the plunger (62) is hollow and slidably receives the inlet valve sleeve (64, 65). A filter (83), (Fig. 10), may be provided in the sleeve opening, or surrounding the sleeve, (93) Fig. 11 (not shown). In Figs. 11 to 13 (not shown), the inlet valve sleeve (88, 88a, 88b) is slidably mounted in or on a stationary sleeve (87, 87a, 87b) surrounding the piston. In Figs. 14 and 15 (not shown), the plunger comprises a rod portion (112) surrounded by a sleeve (113) secured by a nut (118), a waisted portion of the rod portion defining an annular chamber (114) connected to the pumping chamber, so that during the discharge stroke, the pressure in the annular chamber deforms the sleeve outwardly to improve sealing.
