Abstract

1461010 Metal working lubricant containing exfoliated vermiculite CHEMCLEAN CORP 15 Nov 1974 [28 May 1974] 49479/74 Heading C5F A lubricant composition for use in the hot forming of metals comprises finely divided particles of exfoliated vermiculite suspended in an aqueous solution or aqueous emulsion of an organic film-forming compound or suspended in the organic film-forming compound per se. Suitable water-soluble film-forming compounds are lignin sulphonate, sodium gluconate, sodium heptagluconate, cerelose, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, or water soluble salts of resinmaleic anhydride or styrene-maleic anhydride copolymers. Suitable water-emulsifiable compounds are acrylic resins, resin-maleic anhydride, styrene-acrylic or styrene-maleic anhydride copolymers, polystyrene and polyethylene. Organic compounds used per se may be petroleum or synthetic oil, fatty oils or esters of a fatty acid.
