Abstract
1459823 Colour television tubes HITACHI Ltd 14 March 1974 [15 Oct 1973] 11520/74 Heading H1D In an in-line gun assembly for a colour television tube which includes two grid electrodes, 3, 4 and 5, Fig. 3, each of cup-shaped form and with their closed ends adjacent and provided with three beam-transmission apertures 4h, 5h having interned edges X, cylindrical electrodes 81 are mounted in the apertures in contact with the inturned edgs, Fig. 4b, to screen the electron beams from the effect of the walls of the cup-shaped electrodes, and hence reduce astigmatism. As shown, the cylinders may be mounted by the engagement within one end of the inturned aperture edge, by pressure engagement of legs 82 with the inner wall of the cup at the other end, Fig. 4b (and Fig. 4a, not shown). Reference is made to an alternative arrangement in which the cylinders are of the same diameter as, and are aligned with, the inturned edges of the apertures.
