Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve greatly the focus evenness of the center and periphery of a fluorescent screen by providing the first semi-penetrating hole and the second semi- penetrating hole which is an opening forming a penetrating hole combined with the penetrating hole of the first semi-penetrating hole, with the first and the second basic forms being rotationally unsymmetrical with respect to the gun axis. CONSTITUTION:The electron gun is constituted with a prismatic semi-penetrating hole 46 considered the first basic form and a cylindrical semi-penetrating hole 45 considered the second basic form, while both semi-penetrating holes form a penetrating hole 44 of the third grid electrode 43 opposing to the second grid electrode 42. The semi-penetrating hole 46 is provided to form the first basic form covering the range from the neighborhood position of the second grid electrode toward inside of the third grid electrode, and the semi-penetrating hole 45 is combined with the semi-penetrating hole 46 to form the penetrating hole 44. The centers of the prismatic and cylindrical semi-penetrating holes 46, 45 are on the gun axis, longitudinal axis of the prismatic semi-penetrating hole 46 is directed in the same direction as the horizontal axis of the picture tube, and the cylindrical semi-penetrating hole 45 is positioned in the inside of the third grid electrode 43, which is apart from the second grid electrode 42.
