Abstract

1459445 Rocket motor casings IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd 9 Jan 1974 [1 Feb 1973] 5180/73 Heading F3A A pressure vessel such as a rocket motor casing comprises a tubular body 2, a fitting 4 bonded to the interior surface of an end portion of the body, and a reinforcement 10 overlying the inner end of the fitting, the reinforcement comprising a band of plastics material reinforced with fibre, the tensile modulus of the fibre being about the same as or higher than that of the unreinforced body. The body 2 is composed of strip steel laminate and the reinforcement comprises carbon, boron or steel fibres impregnated with epoxy resin. The fitting 4 is bonded to the casing 2 with resin injected through an aperture 9 into an annular cavity 8.
