Abstract

1276224 Lightweight training rapier FABRIKA PLASTMASSOVYKH SPORTIVNYKH IZDELY KIEVSKOGO OBLASTNOGO SOVETA "DINAMO" 17 June 1970 [18 June 1969] 29343/70 Heading A6M A rapier comprises a blade (1), a guard (5) and a handle consisting of a sheath (6) and counterbalance (8), all of which are made of plastics material. The blade and handle are connected by a metal stem (4) which is attached within the handle to a nut (7) and extends to about one third of the length of the blade. The stem may be bent to give an angle of about 5‹ to the handle relative to the axis of the blade. The blade is reinforced by fibres oriented parallel to the axis of the blade and the material of the fibres and blade may be based on polyester resins. The rapier may also be provided with a safety tip 2 and support (9) for the guard which may also be made from plastics material.
