Abstract
1459373 Bar-stock feeding HAGENUK 9 June 1975 24639/75 Heading B3B A device for feeding bar-stock to machine tools, e.g. lathes, comprises a guide tube 4 held coaxially within a casing 8 by means of noise damping hoses 5-8 extending parallel to the guide tube, and is characterized in that the damping hoses have a closed cavity which is pressurized with a gaseous or liquid medium to fix the guide tube in the casing and which can be de-pressurized in order to remove the guide tube from the casing. A pump supplies pressure medium to the hoses through a control valve, and a pressure switch prevents operation of the lathe until the guide tube is gripped by a sufficient pressure. Where the guide tube and casing are pivotally operable along their length to allow feed access of bars 23 from a feed shoot 22, the damping hoses 5 and 6, and 7 and 8, are controlled separately through control valves. The feed shoot 22 is actuated by a solenoid 24 to raise push rods 31 to lift a bar 23 over an edge 32. The pivoting open of the top half of the casing and guide tube occurs with the operation of the push rods 31 by means of linkage 25, 34, 35. The damping action of the hoses prevents propagation of noise, and can be adapted to requirements by varying the pressure or the medium used.
