Means for turning inside out and opening a pillow case comprises a pair of arms relatively movable from a first position in which the arms are closely adjacent to a second position in which they are spaced apart, while remaining parallel with one another. As shown, a vertical arm 10 is fired by means 14 to the edge of a table 12. An arm 11, parallel to arm 10, is movable in guides 15 provided in said edge, and is rigid with the piston rod 16 of a double-acting pneumatic cylinder 17. The respective ends of the latter are selectively connectible by pipes 20, 21 to a supply pipe 18 via pedal-controlled valve means 19. To turn a pillow case, the valve pedal is released for positioning the arms 10, 11 adjacent one another, the mouth of the pillow case is turned the right way for about 3 inches,the fold thus formed is placed over the arms 10, 11 with the unturned body depending therebetween, and the mouth is then drawn downwardly to complete the turning. The valve pedal is then depressed for moving the arms apart to open the turned pillow case.
