Abstract
1459188 Quadraphonic synthesizers EMI Ltd 27 Feb 1974 [13 Jan 1973] 1888/73 Heading H4R Additional (rear) signals 14, 15 are synthesized from a two-channel stereophonic source 1, 2 by adding 11, 12 a reverberation signal derived from the sum 3 of the input channels to difference signals 5, 7 of one channel and a portion 4, 6 of the other. Rear signals of the form and are thereby produced in which usually γ and # are equal and lie between 0 and 1. Delays 8, 10 of 25 msec. and filter networks are optional. The arrangement may be in domestic equipment or in a recording studio to synthesize the rear channels before conventional encoding.
