Abstract

A sterophonic loud-speaker arrangement comprises a cabinet with loud-speakers attached to openings in the front and on each side. The openings on each side are disposed in vertical alignment one above the other and the openings at the front are disposed in one vertical line or in two vertical lines. A right-hand sound channel is electrically connected to the loud-speakers on one side and to at least one loud-speaker at the front. A left-hand sound channel is similarly electrically connected to the loud-speakers on the opposite side and to at least one loud-speaker at the front. The acoustic pressure from the side loud-speakers is greater than that at the front loud-speakers. The loud-speakers at the front combine to produce monophonic sounds. The stereophonic effect is the resultant of the acoustic pressures from the side loud-speakers relative to the acoustic pressures from the front loud-speakers. The loud-speakers of a channel may be connected in series or parallel but preferably the side loud-speakers are in series and are in series with the front loud-speakers, which are connected in parallel. By this means the correct acoustic pressures are obtained. Alternatively, the ratio between the surface areas of the front and side cones, or the ratio between the intensity of the magnetic fields of the loud-speakers determine the ratio of sound pressures.
