Abstract

1458982 Knitting machines W E BOOTON Ltd 8 May 1974 [9 May 1973] 22123/73 Heading D1C The needles 3 of a knitting machine are raised to bring their knitting butts 5 into engagement with a knitting cam track, for displacement to knit or tuck height, by means of pattern jacks 4 whose butts 6 are selectively engageable with and lifted by a vertical array of selector cams 7, the jacks subsequently being lowered by a lowering cam and their downward motion being limited by a landing cam 10 which directly engages the lower extremity of the jacks in order to avoid or reduce the shearing or bending stresses caused by engagement of the cam 10 with landing butts of the jacks in conventional machines. A jack retaining ring 11 is provided.
