Abstract
1458888 Drying threads OPI TEXTILE 22 July 1974 [24 July 1973] 32390/74 Heading F4G [Also in Division D1] A pneumatic jet device, wherein a travelling thread 1 or strand of continuous or discontinuous fibres or filaments is squeezed to remove liquid therefrom, e.g. as part of a bleaching or dyeing treatment, comprises a chamber 2 with inlet and outlet orifices 3 and 4, the latter formed by a capillary tube 5 surrounding a part of the thread path. A pipe 6, extending tangentially to the inner wall of chamber 2 and, optionally with its axis in a plane perpendicular to the chamber axis, supplies gas, e.g. compressed air, which flows helically and in a rotary direction dependent on the direction of thread twist through the chamber to orifice 3 whereat the squeezing action is concentrated. The removed liquid passes from a recovery chamber 7 through a pipe 8 and may be recycled.
