Abstract

1457555 Moulding shock absorbing element L AGHEMO and G APRATO 23 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973] 03199/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division B7] A motor car shock absorbing member e.g. a bumper, is formed in two moulding steps, the first comprising an injection moulding of a bearing structure 1 made of a flexible and shock resistant plastics material, and the second comprising an injection overmoulding of resilient and abrasion resistant plastics material 3, having an impact shock absorption coefficient greater than that of the first material. The first moulding may be of ABS, a polycarbonate or PVC and the second may be unfoamed polyurethane. Attachment brackets or decorative inserts may be included in the moulding process. Holes are provided in the first moulding to improve anchoring of the second.
