Abstract

1383781 Foamed polyurethane mouldings BAYER AG 6 July 1972 [6 July 1971] 31680/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division B7] Padding material, e.g. for motor vehicles such as dashboard padding, bumpers, &c. comprises a microporous polyurethane skin of thickness 15 to 0À5 mm. and a density of 0À6- 1À2 g./cc. and a polyurethane foam core of density 0À05-0À8 g./cc. foamed on to it. It is produced by introducing a microporous polyurethane-forming reaction mixture into a closed mould, removing the mould cover and replacing it with a second cover providing a larger mould cavity, introducing a polyurethane foamforming reaction mixture and allowing the mixtures to harden. The amount of core mixture is preferably sufficient to produce a degree of consolidation of from 1 : 2 to 1 : 10. Metallic inserts may be incorporated in the padding material for stiffening, fastening &c.
