Abstract

1457399 Rails for Suspended vehicles TONON & C SAS 5 March 1975 9190/75 Heading B7L A guide for wheeled trolleys of a monorail system comprises rail sections 1, 1<SP>1</SP> each of substantially J-shaped cross-section with a lower portion 2 providing a track 3 for the wheels 25 of the trolleys 26 and having a downwardly-open continuous longitudinal lower channel 5 narrowing in cross-section to its mouth 6, and in upper portion 8 having an upwardly-open continuous longitudinal upper channel 11 narrowing in cross-section to its mouth 10. Adjacent rail sections are interconnected by members 12 inserted in the upper channels 11 and elements 20 inserted in the lower channels 5, the elements 20 having holes 24 which when aligned with holes 23 in the lower rail portions 2 receive bolts 21. Elements are also proivded for connecting the rail sections to supporting structure such as a beam 17, this conveniently being effected at a rail joint by clamping members 18 and bolts 15 which pass through holes 14 in the connecting members 12. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, a connecting wall 7 between the upper and lower portions 8 and 2 is vertical so that the longitudinal medial vertical plane of the track 3 (defined by a reinforcing insert 4) is offset laterally from the longitudinal medial vertical plane of the upper portion 8, but in other forms such as in Fig. 10 the connecting wall is curved so that said medial planes coincide. In Figs. 1 and 4, the rail sections are made by extrusion of a light alloy whereas in Fig. 10 complementary profiled sheet metal strip elements 48, 49 are connected such as by welding or rivetting.
