Abstract
1,088,878. Travel rails. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. May 13, 1965 [Oct. 10, 1964], No. 20329/65. Heading B7L. A travel rail 1 for overhead trolley conveyers and travelling power-consuming apparatus comprises one U -shaped member, or two, Fig. 11 (not shown), formed by flanging or extrusion, with semi-circular beads 1b engaged by centrally waisted rollers 2 mounted on a trolley having an electrical contact 3 connected via spring-urged means (not shown) to live contact rails 6 resiliently clamped to chairs 5a of flexible insulators 5 secured to the web of the rail 1, which rail is supported by suspensions 4. The contact rails 6 are joined by plug pins (7), Fig. 2 (not shown), located by internal flanges (6a) in the rails 6, and the travel rails 1 are joined by dowel pins or members (9) fitted tightly into tube sections 8 welded into the ends of troughs 1c of the beads 1b Alternatively the tube sections (8) may be welded to caps (not shown) mounted at the ends of the rails 1. In transition or cross-over tracks, pins (10), Figs. 3-5 (not shown), are provided, the cylindrical parts (10a) of which lie in the troughs 1c and the tapered semi-conical portions (10b) of which project from the rail ends which are cut back to receive the pins (10), and a vertical pressure roller (12) is connected to the rail 1 at the transition to counteract the pressure applied by the contact springs and to guide the trolley contact 3. The trolley may be removed from the rail 1 through an open section of the lower bead 1b which is normally bridged by a tube (13), Fig. 6 (not shown), held in position by a rod (15) extending through bushes (14) welded into the trough of the bead 1b, the rod (15) being secured by a split pin (16). In another construction, Figs. 7-10 (not shown), the bridging (1d) comprises a section cut-out of the rail and hinged at (17) to the rail, bushes (18) being welded into the ends of the bridging (1d) and bushes (14) into the ends of the rail trough, and spring-loaded bolts (21) normally interlocking the bridging with the rail. In Fig. 11 (not shown), two rails 1 are spaced by a strip (22) provided with a suspension bolt and the suspensions comprise members (23), (24) and (25). The trolley is supported on conical rollers (2a). The beads may be semi-circular or triangular in section and engaged by centrally waisted double cone rollers having curved beadengaging surfaces, and may be formed by rods seamed to the limbs of the rail 1. The tapered portion (10b) of the pin (10) may then be integral with the semi-circular rod.
