Abstract

145,694. Frankfurter Maschinenbau- Atk.-Ges. vorm. Pokorny & Wittekind. Nov. 22, 1913, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Connecting-rods.-Relates to ball-and-socket connexions between the pistons and connecting- rods of pneumatic &c. engines, and consists in making such connexions without means for holding the parts together, and in providing means for guiding the parts into correct engagement when the engine is started &c. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 the ball is formed on the connecting-rod, and the piston has a conical guide consisting of diaphragms k with openings of diminishing size. The guide may, however, be an entire cone. In the form shown in Fig. 2 the piston has a spherical-ended boss n in the centre and the cup is formed on the connecting-rod, which is provided with a pair of wings o to guide the boss into the cup. The big end has claws p engaging the crank-pin.
