Abstract

1456635 Impact pulverizers SLAGMET AG 14 Nov 1973 [14 Nov 1972] 52575/72 Heading B2A [Also in Division C7] Metal contaminated with slag and impurities (e.g. waste from iron and steel furnaces) is fed into an impact mill having an inlet 2 and outlet 3, a rotor 4 being located between the inlet and outlet and having circumferentially spaced apart blow bars 5 and impact blades 7 pivotally secured to the casing 1 and arranged to shield the casing wall and located so as to comminute the contaminated metal in co-operation with the blow bars, the rotor rotating at a speed such as to comminute the contaminated metal into a metal fraction and a contaminant fraction which leave via outlet 3 and vibrating discharge table 16. The two fractions may be separated using an electromagnetic separator and the metal fraction screened into separate size fractions for recycling to iron and steel furnaces using a vibrating screen.
