Abstract

1455780 Seals AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 21 March 1975 [8 April 1974] 15477/74 Heading F2B A split P.T.F.E. sealing ring 10 is reinforced with circumferentially aligned carbon fibres. Preferably, the fibres are wound around a former to make a ring or tube, which is impregnated with P.T.F.E. The tube or ring is moulded to shape and moulded tube is parted off to provide rings. A rotatable clutch component 14, for a variable speed motor vehicle transmission, has a cylinder 15, for a pistonactuated clutch. An annular groove 17 is sealed with the P.T.F.E. rings 10, engaging a cylindrical surface 19 of a stationary housing 13.
