1455582 Stackable containers J LYONS & CO Ltd 24 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 3543/73 Heading B8P Injection moulded containers of polypropylene have bars 5, 6 partly covering an open top, these bars being received in recesses 7, 8 of a superposed container, the ends 9 of the recesses are closed to prevent longitudinal movement of the containers. A trolley having ribs 12, 13 to engage the recesses 7, 8 and having castors 11 can support a stack of containers. The containers may be of solid form or of open framework or grid structure. The bar 5 may be movable towards the front edge of the top to enable two containers to be stood on end inside an upright container with a fourth inverted container enclosing the upper ends of the two "on end" containers. The movable bar can be located in position by suitable locking means. The bar 5 could alternatively be slidable. As shown in Fig. 6 the movable bar 5 can be pivoted at 18 in lugs 19, studs 20 retaining the bar in position with snap action. In its rearward position the bar 16 rests on the top of the rear wall. With this embodiment the underside of the container base is recessed to accommodate the bar 16, lugs 19 and a rib 21 on the top of a lower box when stacked. Recesses to accommodate a fork lift truck may be provided. One or more removable bars may extend across the open front between opposed side walls and carry labels or merely retain goods in the container.
