Abstract

1455069 Full-face disc brakes HURTH VERWALTUNGS GmbH 22 Oct 1974 [17 Nov 1973] 45660/74 Heading F2E A hub transmission includes sun and planet gearing 7 to 11 and a multi-plate disc brake 15, 16. As shown, a hub and tyre 2, forming a wheel of a forklift truck, are driven by an electric motor 5 secured to a steerable flange 4. The sun gear 7 is formed by teeth on the motor shaft 6 and drives double planet gears 8, 9, each mounted on a fixed stud 13. The gears 9 mesh with further gears 10 each mounted on a stud 10 and driving the hub 1 by means of a ring gear 11. Discs 15 shaped to engage studs 13 are interleaved with discs 16 engaging the teeth 7. The brake is applied by counter-clockwise pivoting of a bell crank 20 acting through a pin and thrust member 18, 17.
