Abstract
1455033 Nickel-base alloys OLIN CORP 19 Feb 1974 [16 March 1973] 46393/75 Divided out of 1455032 Heading C7A A nickel-base alloy having improved oxidation and sulphidation resistance at elevated temperatures consists by weight of: - 2 to 6% aluminium 0.5 to 4% silicon 1 to 6% chromium present up to 0.4% manganese the balance being nickel optionally with up to 0.1% magnesium. Apart from uses in jet engines and chemical plant, the alloys are particularly suited for use as supports for copper-nickel catalysts in automotive exhaust systems. It is stated that the alloys of the invention form thin oxide films on their surfaces which protect them from attack.
